How to create a sequence number using set processing
This download-able eBook will show you how to need to update a sequence number, line number or schedule number based on a specific set of criteria. Well normally you would create a simple Do Select loop in your Application Engine program and then update each row by row. This does work but what if you have thousands of records to go through? There is a better way to allow the database to perform the update for you in just one step.
